Mega Man meets Route 69
Creator Comment: Retro Style + Mega Man
I started by thinking of a way to create character art
that represents the game without the characters.
I personally like to take the whole "I want a picture of that character" mentality
and turn it into more of a concept.
I choose colors and shapes that realize that concept,
then I like to kind of distort them a bit (without disrespecting the original work).
I came up with an image that symbolizes the game,
then added some non-descript shapes and drew a bunch of things related
to the game's characters.
These are shops run by the first series robot masters on Route 69 or.
I hope people look at this and try to imagine
what could or couldn't exist in this kind of world.

For the longest time, I thought it would be cool to
take the boss/stage selection screen from Mega Man and turn it into a neat design,
like maybe in an Andy Warhol-style piece with the boss icons.
But nothing seemed to work, so I pretty much gave up on it.
Then the idea of a vintage billboard came to mind, and it all sort of clicked.
What if the Robot Masters from Mega Man had stores along the fictional Route 69?
I had the designer run with that and add details from the Robot Masters.
The end result really works well for the CCL brand, I think.
